A coworker of mine had a small electrical fire which apparently localized behind the firewall and consequently took out the fuse panel, a good chunk of the wiring harness, and some plastic paneling. The entire dash has since been disassembled and the wiring harness (which goes to the ECU and presumably through the firewall, etc) has been removed. The car is a 93 TT Automatic. How difficult is it to reinstall this harness and reassemble all components under the dash? I'm not afraid of reassembling this, or rewiring, but how difficult will such project be? I assume the ECU may have been impacted by the meltdown as well, but nothing on the passenger side of the car was touched by the fire at all. In fact, the entire dash components are all perfectly intact. Only the fuse panel coverings had been melted down. Also, the airbag has been removed from the steering column. On a scale of 1 day to 1 year, how much of a nightmare is the reassembly based on my description above? Any other thoughts?
